Last night I had the pleasure of watching Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution. In this preview of his new tv series, he sets up shop in Huntington, West Virginia. Not only are they not happy that he is there, they are openly hostile towards him. They don't want him there telling them that they have to eat lettuce all the time. That is not the message that he is there to tell them though.

He is there to help them reform the way they eat. He wants them to stop eating the processed, chemical laden, saturated fatty food that they eat, and in turn, prepare more natural, healthfully flavored food. He is there to show them how to accomplish this major feat.

Jamie begins with the school lunches (as you all know by now, one of my pet peeves!). He is simply speechless when he observes the kids eating pizza for breakfast, and then chicken nuggets for lunch. They actually count french fries as a serving of vegetables! He confronts the lunch ladies with the packaging from the foods they are serving these kids every day, asking them how they feel about the garbage that is in these foods. Their response is that the first ingredient is beef. He asks them how they feel about the rest of the ingredients, and they really don't give him a straight answer.

He also goes into a family's home to help them on a straighter path. And boy are they in need of this! Their main cooking appliance is a deep fat fryer!!! EEEEEK! Their freezer is FULL of frozen pizzas! He then proceeds to bury their deep fat fryer in the back yard - go Jamie!

I can't wait to see what he actually has in store on the 2-hour premier next Friday. I do know that I will be watching while I snack on healthy snacks, nothing fried, I don't want Jamie coming after me!!

Check out this clip!
