Lurking in our food is a secret evil-food colorings, or dyes. Now I am not talking about natural colorings such as spinach, turmeric, red cabbage, berries, grapes, currants, carrots, tea, chlorphyll, or curcumin-these have been used for millenia to color many things. I am talking about artificial dyes and colorants that have been developed somewhere in a laboratory to save money, or what ever reason. They do not occur in nature on their own. Once you check out this list, you may seriously consider how much of that Halloween candy you want your kids to have. The following list may surprise you where these food dyes and colorants hide!

Yellow #6 Beverages, sausage, baked goods, candies, gelatin, cereals Linked to hyperactivity in children. It also may cause adrenal and kidney tumors, nasal congestion, hives or abdominal pain.

Green #3

(fast green)

Candies, puddings, beverages, sherbets This has been linked to bladder cancer and increased hyeractivity in children.

Blue #1

(brilliant blue FCF)

Jellies, baked goods, beverages, condiments, candies Once again, this is linked to hyperactivity in children. It is also a potential mitochondrial toxin that inhibits the bodies ability to convert food into energy. And it can increase cancer risk!!!

Blue #2

(indigotine)

ice creams, cereals, pet food, beverages, candies Oh surprise, it is linked to hyperactivity in children. Also to nausea, skin rashes, vomiting, and breathing problems. Then we wonder why asthma has become so prevalent.

Red #3

(erythrosine)

baked goods, canned cherries, candies This has been banned for use in cosmetics. And it has been associated with yes, hyperactivity in children and thyroid tumors in animals.
